We have another painted airplane joining the Chapter’s fleet of finished airplanes. This one is Paul Asselta’s RV-12. A very clean paint scheme with blue and white and gray colors.
A little like me, Paul didn’t have a specific idea on a paint scheme and looked through some examples with the paint shop and decided, “Do it something like that.” It came out beautiful.
Paul had it painted in Gainesville at, Flying Colors of Texas. It took a little over 3 weeks.
They started by cleaning and alodine etching the plane. Then painted the RV-12 with Sherwin Williams Jet Glo. Reweighing the RV the paint added 21 pounds to the airplane. Not too bad.
It is a good looking RV and we hope to see it flying around the metroplex. Well done Paul!
