Yes, I said TENTS.
In the last half decade, we have seen the rise of the big tire planes at Oshkosh. Alaska Bush Wheels are seen in every corner of the show.
As I walked through the camping areas, I noticed that the tents seem to be growing as well. Usually, airplane campers pack light and tents are small two and three person size. This year I started noticing that comfort is more important that keeping it light. Standing up in the tent for the stay on the field is something worth bringing. Camp sites are looking more like compounds. My favorite is the Glastar on floats that was so tall that the tent was able to fit under the wing.
Even this beautiful Howard was tall enough to get a large tent under the wing.
So if you can pack it, bring your big tent. Make your stay at the Show a comfortable one.
